Click here to see the solution that lightened my uneven skin areas and helped me to get rid of Age Spots

I had tried and failed many times to find a safe and effective way to lighten my skin. I spent months desperately trying to get rid of age spots and to lighten my uneven skin areas.

What not to look for.

First, I was advised to try the Obagi bleaching cream. This cream contains 4% of hydroquinone. I applied it and my skin became red and irritated.

I was very discouraged. I didn't know what to do, whether I should buy another cream or try a chemical peeling or something else. And then I decided to make some searches on the web.

Eventually, I found something that worked.

I've made a big research on causes and treatments of skin discoloration to find the best solution for me. As the result, I found a natural way to get rid of age spots.

Having achieved a near perfect skin, I wanted to share my knowledge with others so that others could also benefit from it. So I started my own website!

Soon I started receiving e-mails from other people suffering from skin discolorations. With their valuable suggestions I reviewed each of the top skin lightening products on the market so that you don’t have to.

Rated #1: SkinBright Concentrate Skin Brightener

SkinBrightSkinBright was my number one choice because of extremely positive results that I’ve achieved as well as feedback from other users of the product.

I cleared my skin from age spots within weeks of using SkinBright and now I can boast of a clear and brighter skin. I’m sure you will also have positive things to say about this product when you try it.

SkinBright Complex, doesn't contain hydroquinone, mercury, steroids or other harmful bleaching substances. It also has effective preservatives and moisturizers to ensure minimal skin irritation.

The product is equally good for those with lighter or darker skin, which is rare in the skin lightening market.

I've received SkinBright the next day I ordered and it came in a airless dispensing bottle. I found this much better than a jar because the cream did not get contaminated over the course of its use from dirty fingers. They also included a pouch to keep the cream in when not in use as most creams containing kojic acid are sensitive to light.

The best part about this product is that you can try it risk free for 30 days. So even if it doesn't work for you, you don't have to pay for it!

Rated #2: Revitol

AroungeRevitol was my number two choice because a lot of people who have used this product have written to me speaking about good improvements that they have achieved with it.

It has also shown good results with people I know personally so I am confident of its utility in treating skin discoloration.

Revitol manufactures and distributes a wide variety of herbal supplements, liquid formulas, and capsule products. For 15 years Revitol has been manufacturing this terrific combination cream.

The lightening cream has a unique combination of active natural ingredients (Arbutin, Allantoin and Shea Butter) that not only lightens the skin but also assists in exfoliation and moisturizing.

Rated #3: Makari

Nano DNA

Makari is known as the maker of ethnic skin care products.

According to FDA research makari is found to be 100% safe. It does not contain Hydroquinone. It is effective for both men and women of black skin. It is considered as safe bleaching formula due to absence of Hydroquinone.

It is made up of caviar and vegeclairine which are important skin essentials for dark skin. Caviar is species that is found in Caspian Sea . Where as Vegeclairine is a plant extract which works as a natural bleaching agent.

Both these ingredients lighten the complexion of skin in safe manner. The results produced are fast and long lasting.

Makari is a great skin care formula for black skin.

Rated #4: Babor

BaborBabor advertises this lotion as a 24-hour lightener for restoring the translucent shimmer to normal and combination skin. As with many overly ambitious promises from manufactures, the time table is unrealistic and doesn’t deliver.

The specially coordinated combination of active ingredients does reduce lipid production and the inclusion of mid-level SPF does improve the texture of facial skin after 2 weeks of use. However, the lightening effects and reduction of melasma and sun spots was not nearly as effective as advertised.

P.S. Remember, you can start to see a difference in as little as 2 weeks using SkinBright cream. I was sceptical about this product, because it promise great results without irritations. Today I have brighter and softer skin. SkinBright cream has completly changed the way I look and feel.

    Hello Melissa,

You were right about OBAGI.  After I had a chemical peel it was suggested to me to use the product skin lignhtner and sunscreen 5/6 by OBAGI.   I used it for several months but I actually still have same problem so I quit using it then my skin turn darker.   And the reason I quit because I have not really seen a difference.  So I will try the SkinBright see if it really works.

  3. Melissa for Judy Says:

    Hi Judy.
White spots (hypopigmentation) are the adverse effect of hydroquinone. Dark skin is more susceptible to it. You should discontinue the use of cream with hydroquinone.
I had never seen any reports about white spots caused by SkinBright, though you should understand that all is individual. SkinBright is mild product and does not contain aggressive chemical bleachers.
If you will decide to use it, you should apply it only onto dark spot, not to all face. And any way, ask your doctor’s advice about hypopigmentation.

    Regards, Melissa

I have very dark pigmentations around my mouth, nose, eyes and neck. Please if you know how I can get rid of it ..please help me.

    Thanks Radica

  5. zaida casilum Says:

Melissa, Thank you for giving me this information.
I will surely ensure to try one of the creams you've recommended.

  6. Melissa for Radica Says:

I’ve got rid of my spots with the help of SkinBright. Maybe you should also try it.

Usually it takes 2-4 weeks minimum to see the first result and 2-6 months to get the full result. Make sure you use the bleaching cream properly. Use a UVA+UVB sunscreen always when you go out; reapply it each 2-3 hours or after washing. A headwear and sunglasses are also helpful. More sun rays=more spots. Sun is harmful all over the year. Sun rays penetrate clouds and damage your skin even at winter, don’t forget about sunscreens.
  7. Sravany Says:

I am Sravani and I am 28 yrs old. My skin was normal during my teenage and it turned to Dry. I also have dark circles around my eyes and dark brown spots over my cheeks and unfortunately these dark spots are growing rapidly over my nose too. Can I try SkinBright Skin Lighter? Will these help my skin?

Also if I use SkinBright Skin Lightener can i apply make up over that? If so what type of make up should i apply ( I dont have idea about ideal make up for a face like me)
    Please help me.

Thank you so much for creating such a useful website and helping all those who are in need of good skin care.

    Regards,
    Sravani.

  8. Melissa for Sravany Says:

    Hi, Sravany

Yes, you can try SkinBright. Be careful if your skin is dry. You should not use it if you will see strong irritation. Some peeling and redness at first days are normal. You can apply the make up over it. Just allow your skin to absorb the cream completely before applying make up. You should avoid sun exposure and use make up foundation with high sunscreen factor (SPF).

I hope my advices will help you.

  9. Loren Says:

I'm about to order SkinBright. And I have a queistion about it.

Is it comprised of natural ingredients? I have a history of Hodgkins Lymphoma, so I try to stay away from products that are heavy with chemicals.
  10. Melissa for Loren Says:

    Hi, Loren

SkinBright does not include harmful ingredients such as hydroquinone,
mercury and steroids. None of ingredients in this product is classified
as carcinogen. You should take into account that your skin may become
extra sensitive to the sun during use of the SkinBright.

Heavy sun exposure may increase the risk of skin cancer
in individuals with fair skin. Never forget about sunscreen!

  11. Paula Says:

Hi Melisa, I just read your article on lightening brown spots. If I were to buy one of the products you list, it would be SkinBright. However, my brown spots are mainly on my legs and I just can’t stand them! I haven’t allowed my legs to see the sun in years, yet I keep on getting them, I swear every week I have more! I did go to a plastic surgeon a couple weeks ago and he did some test spots with a laser and still they didn’t go away, nor lighten. Do you think if I purchased SkinBright it would work on my legs? I also have some on my hands and forearms, but they are not as bothersome as the ones on my legs. I dream of the days when my legs were so pretty without the spots, and it would be nice if I could get them to disappear once and for all.

    I welcome your feedback.
    Thanks,
    Paula

  12. Melissa for Paula Says:

    Hi Paula

SkinBright and other bleaching creams are effective only on spots which are localized in the upper layers of epidermis. Bleaching cream peels off these layers and the hyperpigmentation with them. Laser is the most effective method to peel off the skin. Therefore, your spots have deeper localization and require more intensive treatment then the using of bleaching cream. By the way, the final effect from the laser treatment you will see only after 3-6 months (it depends on the depth of the laser penetration). Another important thing is to use a sunscreen and avoid sun rays after the procedure. A sun exposure after the laser peeling can increase the pigmentation.

There is one more thing I want to tell you. Progressive and steady brown spots can be a sign of serious genetic disease. I don’t tell you more because I think you should go to another doctor, to a dermatologist or at least to a general practitionist.

I hope you will solve your problem.

  13. Sophia Says:

I just read your top 5 skin lighteners. Thank you for the advice. It’s hard to choose with so many products out there. I’m trying to bleach my nipples and private parts..No I’m not vain, its just after I had my son, my skin turned almost a dark purply color. I’m a little embarrassed of it. Ive searched on-line and heard of http://www.southbeachskinsolutions.com/products1.htm South beach skin solutions. Please let me know if you’ve heard of them, or read anything about them. My sister uses it and is very happy with the results. Shes never had a baby though. My skin color is olive.

    Thank you for your time,

    Respectfully,

    Sophia

  14. Melissa for Sophia Says:

    Hello Sophia!

My opinion is that you should not use any bleaching creams in such delicate areas. Chloasma (hyperpigmentation of pregnancy) disappears itself as usual during several months after delivery when hormonal changes become normal. The only thing I can advise is to take multivitamin complex and to avoid tan. Bleaching creams contain rather aggressive to skin components and may cause irritation on delicate areas. However, if you decide to use them, you have to avoid chemical bleaching agents such as hydroquinone and use only mild creams from natural sourcing and be very careful. But, let me repeat myself, you should just wait or go to a specialist if you can’t stand it anymore. As to your question, I can say nothing about South beach skin solutions. I have never heard about it.

    Good luck

  15. Mika Says:

    Hi there,
Thank you so much for your website. I’ve been struggling with hyperpigmintation for the last couple years and lately it has really been driving me crazy. I am an outdoor person, I like to run and swim and go to the beach with my son, but every time I do I end up with darker spots. I use sunscreen a lot and hats too, but sometimes it is not enough and it make me depressed when I feel I have to give up things I love to do, especially swimming. I often don’t end up exercising because the sun is out (I hate the gym)!

I just purchased the new DDF Discoloration Reversal-Pods that have niacin and glucosamine. Do you know anything about this product or anything about the new research they have been doing with these two ingredients? I’ve also been taking glucosamine and niacin internally.

  16. Melissa for Mika Says:

    Hello Mika
Unfortunately, I have never heard about DDF Discoloration Reversal-Pods. There are so many bleaching products available at the market. But I know some facts about niacin. Long term use of large doses of niacin has been associated with hyperpigmentation. This is an adverse reaction well-known to physicians. High dozes of niacin have been used to treat hyperlipoproteinemia (increased level of cholesterol in blood). High dozes mean several grams. So if you take 300-500 mg I think you shouldn’t worry about this. But if your doze is higher you should to consider.

I hope you will get rid of them!

  17. Ashley Says:

    Hi Melissa~
I have checked out SkinBright a few days ago and saw on the website that it looks like it bleaches the whole face making it appear whiter. I still want my “tan” look but without the light brown spots to go with it. You can’t really tell too much that I have these spots until I have no foundation on, but I would like to have even skin tone that matches the tone of the rest of my body. I quess my question is, If I use this product is it going to bleach out my whole face…in effect taking away my tan?

Thank you for all your help
    Ashley

  18. Melissa for Ashley Says:

If you will apply SkinBright on the whole face
it will become lighter and your tan will be diminished.
    This is SkinBright action.
Try to apply it only onto spots.

But you should understand that sun exposure is the one of the main reasons of spots.
And if you like a tan you will never get rid of these spots forever.

    A SkinBright manufacturer strongly recommends
the using of a sunscreen to provide a good result.

The last but not least. UV rays produce not only
a beautiful tan but also an ageing of skin.
Maybe you should try an autobronzant.

  19. Kris Says:

    Hi ! Melissa
Would you please tell me how I can protect my face from cooking heat I work in the restaurant that I have to be in front of stove for a period of time.
I believe that cause the dark spots on my face.
    Thank you

  20. Melissa for Kris Says:

    Hi Chris

Yes, i think your constant contact with heat and particles of fat and smoke can be the reason.
I know that people who work with industrial equipment e.g. sewing machine are prone to age spots due to the contact with machine lubricant.

You should try to wash your face at once you come home and maybe during the day. If you would be a woman I would tell you to use a good make up foundation.
Make up bases contain protective ingredients.

You should find a good protective day cream like Clinique City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 15 or something else.

And eat food with vitamins and antioxidants every day

This is all I can advice.

    Good luck, Melissa

  21. Kevin Says:

    Hi Melisa,

I recently purchased this product for my hyper pigmentation of my knuckles and elbows but didn’t notice any improvement after using it for a month and using it all up at the end of the month.  Can you recommend a product that works on ethnic skin and specifically the hands? My complexion is light brown and my knuckles are darker than the rest of my body and I hate it.  Do you recommend a micro derma abrasion kit? If so which one is best in combination with a skin lightener product?

  22. Melissa for Kevin Says:

"Hyperpigmentation" of skin above joints (knuckles, elbows, etc.) is physiological condition. Skin of these parts of body is thick, with remarkable cornual layer. Because this parts of body are exposed to rubbing and overextension. Therefore, skin looks hyperpigmentated.

This is typical for ethnic skin. So, you can only slightly lighten this areas. You should peel off these parts regularly. Use a rough wisp or an exfoliation scrub. Apply SkinBright after exfoliation. Alpha Arbutin, lactic and Kojic acids (ingredients of SkinBright) also help to remove cornificated epithelium cells and make your skin brighter and smoother. These acids as well as glycolic acid also work as active ingredients in concentrated solutions for superficial chemical peels. Deeper chemical or laser peels run the risk of increasing pigmentation and can causing uneven results to you.
A SkinBright usage direction says that full results appear after 2-3 months of regular use. A result may be not remarkable at the very dark skin. People with light brown skin tone had a good result with SkinBright as usual. Don't forget about sunscreens. Although your skin is dark, it also exposed to UV-ageing. A protection from sun helps to prevent wrinkles and is strongly recommended if you want to avoid repigmentation after using bleaching cream or another bleaching method.
If you will not satisfy after using this advises, don't bye other "magic" creams or solutions at once. Just consult with dermatologist before, if you don't want to harm yourself.
If you will not satisfy after all your attempts, just relax. I told you, your skin is absolutely normal. Don't hate it and it will return love to you.
  23. Judy Says:

    Melissa,
I have dark spots on my face and top of hands that I would like to get rid of.
I have questions about the SkinBright product:
    1) I have fair sensitive skin. I have used toners in the past that make my face turn pink and warm so I don't normally use toners. Would SkinBright have the same affect?

    2) It says to use it twice a day. So I can wear foundation after applying SkinBright?

    3) I believe there is a 30 day warrantee - so if I don't like the product or have a bad reaction to it, can I send it back for a refund - no questions asked?

Any insight you can give me would be appreciated!
    Thanks! Judy
  24. Melissa for Judy Says:

    Hello, Judy

These are the answers about SkinBright

    1) The manufacturer says that all ingredients of SkinBright
are generally tolerated by most individuals.

Nevertheless, if your skin is extremely sensitive you have to
make a test for allergic reaction.

Just apply a small amount of cream on the neck behind
the ear or on the front part of the elbow for 3 days (prior to using on the face).
If you will see a severe irritation, you should not use the product.

Slight peeling in the first few applications is completely normal.
Because of the gentle exfoliation properties of the formula.

    2) You should wait at least 10 minutes after using SkinBright
before applying makeup, moisturizer or/and sunscreen.
This will allow the product to absorb into the skin.
The use of an additional wide spectrum (UVA+UVB) sunblock of
SPF 30 (minimum) is highly recommended.

    3) Yes, you can return the product if you are not satisfied with the results

    Good luck!
